Welcome to Flamenco in New York.

Permit me to introduce myself. I’m a retired senior citizen who decided to spend his days wandering around museums and galleries and his nights attending flamenco. While there are many sources online and in print rounding up exhibitions in and around the city, there were none for flamenco. I had to check more than two dozen different websites to find performances to go to. But that was frustrating and time consuming. Finally, I asked a flamenca if she knew of such a site. A true New Yorker, she said, “Why don’t you start one”. And here it is.

The core of the site is the listings of upcoming flamenco performances in the New York metropolitan area arranged in chronological order. There is also a blog which will include announcements of new shows as I find out about them as well as posts about subjects of interest to New York’s flamenco “underground”. In addition, there is a gallery of videos and photographs I’ve taken of shows I’ve attended and a resource section with information about flamenco books, shops, teachers, newsletters, and websites, among other related materials.
